Friendship is Magic - IDW Comics - Issues 1# to 26#

Have yet another batch of comic reviews all nicely tucked in a single post for your convenience. This way you don't need to hunt down individual videos or reviews, here you can watch ell the reviews of the main series from Issue 1# to Issue 26#.

You might be wondering why I'm not being snappy, or witty, and just plain informative. This is because I'm writing this at 3:45 am, after getting only two hours of sleep and with a shore shoulder due to excess of drawing goddamn cartoon horses. All for an article that probably just two or three people will read. Fucking hell, sometimes I wonder if even this little effort is worth it.

Have your comic reviews after the break!

These will be formatted the same way the reviews of the Micro Series were structured, so expect a small recommendation after the video followed by the best and worst part of it.

ISSUES 1# to 4# - THE RETURN OF QUEEN CHRYSALIS.

For those who want to relive the horrors of childhood.

Best Part: The unstoppable battery of pop-culture references.

Worst Part: The climax (though striking) feels a bit underwhelming.

ISSUES 5# TO 8# - NIGHTMARE RARITY.

For lovers of redeemed characters.

Best Part: The very poignant cameo of Trixie, which gives sense to the whole arc.

Worst Part: Realizing that Rarity is nothing but a background character in her own story.

ISSUES 9# TO 10# - ZEN & THE ART OF GAZEBO REPAIR.

For those who see adventure by just stepping out the door.

Best Part: The epic tone of its mundanity.

Worst Part: That it's only two issues long.

ISSUES 11# TO 12# - NEIGH ANYTHING.

For those of us who couldn't stomach American Graffiti.

Best Part: The style with which it destroys the most annoying tropes of the genre.

Worst Part: Robert Zemeckis would've dumped a truck of manure on Buck Withers.

ISSUES 13# TO 14# - THE PIRATE ARC.

For our inner Jack Sparrow.

Best Part: Its unaltered and unrefined sense of swashbuckling fun.

Worst Part: At times it feels like the ideas trump the story.

ISSUES 15# TO 16# - THE BOOK WORM ARC.

For those who liked the movie adaptation of "Ink Heart".

Best Part: The Film Noir segment.

Worst Part: How they force us to feel sorry for the bad guy.

ISSUES 17# TO 20# - REFLECTIONS.

For quantum physicists of the heart.

Best Part: The many risks it takes while also being entertaining.

Worst Part: The side effects of taking such risks.

ISSUES 21# AND 22# - MANEHATTAN MYSTERY.

For those who believe in characterization after redemption.

Best Part: The surprisingly brilliant chemistry between Babs and Trixie.

Worst Part: Not doing more with the character of Rough Diamond.

ISSUE 23# - THE PETS.

For fans of "Gon".

Best Part: The boldness of the premise.

Worst Part: The last two pages are so bad they almost ruin the comic.

ISSUE 24# - DISCORD'S FIELD TRIP.

For those looking for a buffet of pop culture.

Best Part: The quantum singularity of Doctor Who references.

Worst Part: The end is so quick you can miss it in a blink.

ISSUES 25# TO 26# - THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE PONIES.

For cowboys with abysmally low demands.

Best Part: Being able to put it behind us.

Worst Part: It's disastrous execution.
