My Thoughts on Fucking Things Up.

There is a lot that we take for granted in today’s world. We are so used to seeing the most basic things work out okay that we forget they are there, so we never acknowledge them. It’s like we take the merit of what works fine and without a hitch because our attention is focused on what we think doesn’t work and needs fixing. We want the things that don’t work to work so well and to our will that we forget to appreciate the things that are already working well. And this isn't so obvious as it is in the entertainment world.

My Thoughts on The Great and Powerful Trixie

Okay, time to breathe life back into this corpse of a blog and talk about something pony related for once. I know it’s been forever since I posted anything here, and I blame both my overwhelming amount of unfinished commissions looming over me like the Tower of Mordor, and the fact that Season 4 was taking forever to come and I had nothing else to talk about. I could have reviewed some fan productions in the mean time, and believe me I am going to get to those one of these days, but for now let’s focus another editorial on a character that both the fandom and I like, but for completely different reasons. I’m talking about the most boastful, full of herself and clumsy unicorn out there, The Great and Powerful Trixie.

My Thoughts on Princess Molestia

Art by TheodoresFan, at DeviantArt.
Well, it looks like (some of) the Bronies are at it again. I am starting to feel like a disgruntled father who has a child that, as soon as he turns around, starts setting the curtains on fire and puts the cat into the dishwasher. I am not going to be too reprehensive in this article, though I am going to try and call for calm and order, as I am seeing this happens more often than not every time we are waiting for a new season to start. It’s always like this.

- Latest Season ends.

- Bronies run out of subjects to discuss.

- Bronies scrape the bottom of the barrel to find things to argue about.

- Bronies get mad.

- I write an editorial.

- I get hate mail.

And this time the target of their hatred is none other than Princess Celestia’s alternate interpretation created by artist John Joseco, the big and infamous Princess Molestia, also known as Molly or Big Sexy (as she calls herself). What do I have to say about this? Let me tell you.

My Thoughts on What Season is the Best

Now that the San Diego Comic Con is over and every single nerd has spewed several gallons of gushing hype all over their respective YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr profiles allow me to go back on track with this short little article about a trend that seems to be going a lot in this fandom, and I know how stupid that sounds. This fandom, like any other fandom, is well known for having trends every five minutes. We have the fluffy ponies and the terrible ways they die, or the socks and how saucy ponies look when they are dressed, or we start shipping Tom with Bloomberg and Spike with Gummy (or maybe that's just me), or we start freaking out because the fandom and the show are dying for the fifth time like an undecided terminal patient. Oh, and people getting mad because they have to deal with M.A. Larson’s fetish of putting wings on everything.

But amongst all of them there is one trend that doesn't die nor seems to be getting any weaker, and that's people arguing what season is the best one. There are people who would go to war armed with their mouse and keyboard just to defend their favorite season, and to be honest I don't know why they bother.

My Thoughts on Merriwether Williams

I find myself in a very, very, very disadvantaged position here.

For those of you who didn’t know about this, I live in Spain and thus my life as a brony is full of shipment costs, delays, low quality streams, constant translation issues (even though people praise my level of English) and worse of all, lack of all the new toys and merchandise Hasbro releases. At the time of writing this the DVD’s of Seasons 1 and 2 of Friendship is Magic are yet to arrive to our coasts, and the new toy sets (including the Alicorn Princess Twilight Sparkle set) is also nowhere to be seen in my stores. This is because we are still airing Season 2 here. Again, this will end up getting resolved in the future, but as of now it’s impossible for me to give a thorough review on anything new that comes out like say, for example, Equestria Girls. I don’t see any Spain release dates for the movie, and I doubt we will because the Spanish audience is not so into My Little Pony as the American audience is. Spain as a country has a bigger interest in things like Littlest Pet Shop, Phinneas and Ferb, Regular Show, and Adventure Time. If you could go to a toy aisle of any shop in my country you will find this to be true. You will also see an obscene amount of BeyBlade merchandise.

What I’m saying with this lengthy intro is that I can’t talk about Equestria Girls because I haven’t even seen it, so in the meantime let’s talk about something that I’ve been wanting to tackle on for the longest time, and that is my thoughts on a certain writer that this fandom seems to have quite a lot of animosity towards, a writer that goes by the name of Merriwether Williams.

My Thoughts on Head Canon

I know this is kind of out of left field, especially considering that the hottest thing that just hit the Brony fandom is “Equestria Girls”, but I want to share my thoughts on head canon with all of you, and even a few theories of my own, before this one shot movie and Season 4 arrive to our silver screens. It’s kind of funny how hard it’s getting for me to come up with new ideas to write about, but for the longest time I've been wanting to talk about head canon and share some of my ideas with all you, so without further ado, let’s get to it.

My Thoughts on Equestria Girls

So it seems there is a lot of people upset about this new Equestria Girls thing. I wasn't going to bring this into my blog yet, in fact I was planning on making this some sort of breather for everyone who is so upset, so they can escape all this drama by coming here and just reading about everything but Equestria Girls. But after seeing all the reactions, and the opinions, and people getting angry, and threatening each other, I think I shouldn't be ignoring this. Let’s address the big, multicolored elephant-turned-into-human in the room, Equestria Girls.

My Thoughts on Princess Cadance

I usually make my opinion articles thinking that I am voicing my thoughts properly, respectfully, and in a way so that not many people (and hopefully nobody at all) will get upset. I have the feeling things won’t be that hunky-dory with this one since it seems to still be an issue even today. Anytime I talk with any of my brony friends Princess Cadance comes up, and I always have two types of conversation with them: The conversation where Princess Cadance gets praised, or the conversation where she gets trampled over like a dumpster on fire. But what side am I on? Let me tell you all about it.

My Thoughts on Disagreement

Someone said once: “Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one, and if we don’t use them we will drown in our own bullshit”. We, as individuals, are helpless when it comes to share our opinions. We must tell the world what we think because we must. There is no reason behind it. We must say it at any cost, it doesn’t matter what we lose or gain from it, and we have to fulfil our destiny in that we must tell everyone in every chat room, forum, blog, website, public service announcement, movie, TV show, comic, book and newspaper what we think. We don’t care about objectivity all we care about is our own selfish opinion.

So why is it that people are so troubled and get so angry when they find someone else with a different opinion than theirs? Why do they jump and start yelling and shouting and throwing hissy fits and basically acting like monkeys in a cage throwing crap at each other? Why do we lose all semblance of human decency when we see people disagreeing with us? This happens everywhere, but the internet being a public and open place is an easier and more accessible example, and since my topic revolves around ponies, like it always does. I think it makes sense that we have to talk about angry people with different opinions within our fandom. Because it makes sense to me, roll with it, we are going in.

My Thoughts on Focus

There is a pattern in my reviews, especially the reviews focused around Friendship is Magic. I always start them talking about something that has nothing to do with ponies. I will talk about politics, a TV show from the 70’s, a Michael Crichton book, or llamas. I will talk about something completely irrelevant and the reason behind this is because I kind of like that style of writing. It’s a very fun way to throw off your readers to then bring them back to the subject matter, and it also grounds the article in some sort of reality. It’s easier to talk about pastel colored horses once you have talked about something familiar, or moved the spiky issues out of the way. That’s why sometimes I also start talking about how the fandom has caught fire and burnt to its foundations.

I also do this because I have a terrible problem with focus. You see? Did you see how I did it again? Focus is something very important and it is inherent to both the fandom and the show we all love and enjoy so much. It’s not unique though, every fandom and every show has this issue. It can be good, and it can be bad. It can be intentional and unintentional. And here I am going to talk a little bit about it.

My Thoughts on Twilight Alicorn

For the first time in almost a year the Brony fandom has suffered one of the longest, most vicious and downright bloodiest shit-storms in its history. I didn’t take part on it, and I never voiced my opinion, not here nor in any of my other blogs, saving what I thought of the whole thing to myself and maybe a couple of my friends. I didn’t want to say anything because I wanted to take time to word my thoughts properly, so I wouldn’t rustle anybody’s jimmies, and so I could explain what goes through my mind properly.

But I know that wouldn’t matter. It doesn’t matter how I word it or how I explain. There’s always somebody who is going to be angry at someone else’s opinion, because this is the internet and that’s what people do.

However, even after all that has happened, I still have you guys into high regards. I know you are not going to come at me insulting me or calling me names, mostly because I don’t call you names and I try my best to keep the vitriolic wording and the cynicism to a minimum here. So I hope you understand if some of that seeps in later on in the article, just a little. In the end, we are here to have fun, read about ponies, and discuss possible fanon theories while laughing at it, but never to take it seriously.

So I think it’s time for me to say what I think about the whole “Twilight Alicorn” subject, from the actual change in the character’s design to the drama that it created, and since the episode’s out and we now know that the change is permanent, I think it’s the best time for me to tell you all what I think.

My Thoughts on Nitpicking

Hello everyone and welcome to “My thoughts on...

This is a series of editorials that I will be doing during the dreadful pony drought of 2013, a time during which Season 4 is being produced and people might or might not jump out of the boat that is the Brony fandom. I use the word “editorials” with a lot of freedom, because they are not complete editorials per se. They are more opinion articles than editorials. That’s the reason why they are titled “My thoughts on...

They won’t always be about pony, though. Sometimes they will be about movies, books, artwork, people, and other subjects. But since I became sort-of-well known in the fanbase for doing reviews on pony, I guess most of these articles will be about our beloved colourful miniature equines, and everything that surrounds them. So, if that sounds interesting to you, feel free to check the article after the page break.
